Difference between Vengeance & Justice!

The word Justice is so often misused by the media – they write that a criminal who might have killed people, raped or robbed someone, once caught as “Justice is done” or the living victims hoping that the criminal is caught and “Justice will be done”

But this is not Justice – Justice would be for the innocent people who were killed to get their life back, for rape not to happen, for those who were robbed to get their money back, for the loved ones of those that were killed, to get their loved ones back!

For a parent, whose child is abducted, does he/she care that the criminals who did this died a horrible death? Do the victims of the likes of Madoff, care that he is suffering in Jail? Of course not. For the Parent, Justice is getting their child back, for the aged victims of Madoff it is getting their money back – money which they relied on for food, medicine!

But we seem so intent on punishing the criminal that we lose sight of this, letting our anger rule our minds.

Hollywood loves vengeance – for example the “Kill Bill” movies – the Hero or Heroine, the latter in this case, lose their loved ones in the beginning, somehow the Hero or Heroine survives and then it is a kill-fest the rest of the movie. The audience blood lust is satisfied, and we are told “Justice is done.”

Has it? Did the Hero or Heroine get their loved ones back? Did they get the life they dreamed of back? Those whose lives were cut short, did they get their life back?

ALL of us have high hopes and dreams – to be a big movie or sports star, write that great novel, become famous, find a cure for cancer, make a difference in this world – when all those dreams & hopes are crushed, lives cut short, is it really Justice when the Killers are caught and jailed?

The most recent tragedy in America’s recent history was the horrific terrorist attack that took down the two towers in NY – so many innocent lives were cut short! Some were planning their retirement, some were having a baby, others hoping for a promotion, some were single parents with little kids, who maybe now orphans, split apart! All those dreams, crushed, gone!

Is it Justice that the killers were also killed in the attack? That the mastermind was caught and killed? Was that Justice or just pure Vengeance?

Justice would be for the aged persons to get their retirement, enjoy it, for the Parents to be there for the birth of their baby, raise it with love, get that promotion, for those innocent kids to still have their mommy or daddy to love them, raise them with love.

Here’s a puzzler – there was a recent news story of the senseless killing of a young teenage tennis player. Again, the word Justice was used – I wrote a comment saying that is not Justice, Justice would be for the young man to get his life back, to chase after his dreams and aspirations! Was he dreaming of becoming the next great Tennis player? The next great Borg, Federer, Sampras? And what about his parents, his loved ones, his friends? They lost a dear son, his family lost a loved one, his friends lost a dear friend. Justice would be for the parents to see their son attain success and beam with pride! For his family, siblings, friends to participate in his success!

When I wrote that I was surprised by so many negative thumbs downs! I was surprised, what was wrong with what I said? Wouldn’t we all wish for the victims of senseless killings not to be the victims, have their lives cut short? And then I understood – the top two religions say we get only one life; we get only shot at this and that’s it! Next, we must sit idle in Heaven, singing praises of God for eternity and be happy about it! Any other view that says otherwise MUST be shot down, mocked!

Another recent tragedy was the flooding in Texas that took so many innocent children’s lives! Again, so many hopes and dreams of a great life to come were cut short. I wrote then also for Justice to be done, these young girls would get their lives back, chase after their dreams hopes!

Now sitting in Heaven crying for their parents, family, friends, and the only life they had ever known. After some time, their siblings, friends and even their parents will move on with their lives. Most of their friends and classmates will forget them. Their siblings, friends will get to chase after their dreams & hopes, college, a career, fall in love, marriage, kids & all the joys and celebrations of life & these kids get to helplessly watch and wonder why they were robbed of all this?

And the single parent watching his kids now parent-less, farmed out to foster homes, where they could be abused, brutalized. Some kids end up in the streets! Is a soldier killed in battle in Ukraine, happy to be enjoying Heaven, while on earth his country people are suffering the ravages of war, his loved ones homeless, struggling to make ends meet?

How many times have you heard or seen “Journalists” ask “Will we meet all our DEAD loved ones again in Heaven?” – question asked with a big smile, they already know what the answer will be, such a question has been asked millions of times!

How about the question “How can I be happy in Heaven while my LIVING loved ones are suffering, starving, homeless, begging in the streets, my country at war, my loved ones, my people facing rape, torture, death? How can a child be happy in Heaven without his/her parents, family, loved ones?”

NOT ONCE! NEVER! Why? This media is protecting these religions that promise an endless life of comfort in Heaven – such questions disturb them. What can they answer? We forget our Living loved ones? We care no more? That does not sound good, does it?

Only Reincarnation & a new life can give some semblance of Justice!

If they choose to come back, they get a second chance at life!

A second chance at chasing after their dreams, aspirations, a career, experience first love, dating, marriage, kids and again enjoy all the joys & celebrations of life!

So, we end up with realizing that the God of the top two religions cannot give Justice to these kids – all He can provide is a life of ease & comfort for eternity! And that is supposed to make up for all that they have lost?

This is why the concepts of Heaven and Hell make no sense. So, the criminal is tortured in Hell, how does that help the victim? If a victim is robbed off his life savings, savings he had been counting on to send his kid to college, his retirement – How will the knowledge that God is torturing the criminal in Hell help? It will not send his kid to college, his future destroyed and the father is looking at working even in his old age!

And these religions play a nice trick also – they tell the criminals to just cry, repent and nice God will forgive their crimes and off they go to enjoy Heaven! Imagine the victims of 9/11 & other senseless tragedies coming face to face with their killers enjoying Heaven, the evil people that took them away from their loved ones, their living loved ones now suffering, homeless, begging in the streets!

The fact that the killers of 9/11 were themselves killed, does nothing to help their victims, both dead and living. Their living relatives must live with the memories of their lost loved ones till they die! Does torture of these killers in Hell help? Not at all!

But sadly, we so conditioned to get angry, hate and get back at the evil person that did this to us and once the evil person is punished, we call it Justice, instead of realizing what it truly is – Vengeance!

But Vengeance is quick, very violent, satisfies our blood lust.

Whereas Justice is slow, non-violent and there is no blood lust to satisfy.

At some point we need to raise ourselves and stop our hate, control our anger.

Raise above these Christian & Islamic views of God who can offer only Vengeance and not Justice! Realize that these are man-made religions, made by people like us who thirst for revenge against those who harmed us and call it Justice!
