I am sure a lot of readers are familiar with Pavlov’s dog experiments, for those who do not – here an excerpt from an online report.
During the 1890s, Pavlov (Ivan Petrovich Pavlov (1849–1936) researched salivation in dogs in response to being fed. Pavlov expected his dogs to salivate for food, but noticed they began salivating at the mere sound of his assistant’s approaching footsteps. Pavlov started from the idea that there are some things that a dog does not need to learn. For example, dogs don’t learn to salivate whenever they see food.
This reflex is ‘hard-wired’ into the dog.
Pavlov showed that dogs could be conditioned to salivate at the sound of a bell if that sound was repeatedly presented at the same time that they were given food.
My thought is that we humans are no better. Sure, we think we are sooo intelligent, so far advance than these lowly creatures but we are not.
I have seen bright, educated, highly intelligent “Journalists” drooling as they ask about Heaven – zero evidence of any such – “What will life be like?” – and I am going, “do they not know that this guy has never been there? That he is reading the same books as they have? That such questions have been asked repeatedly?”
And yet they do and their smile gets bigger and bigger and the drool increases as the religious guy goes on and on about how wonderful Heaven would be, no more pain or suffering, the easy good life to be enjoyed forever and ever! yay!
Amazing that no one asks what do we DO in Heaven? What WORK? What USE are we to God? Billions of people just laying about in an idle, lazy, useless, pointless existence self-gratifying themselves like we see our dogs do – is that it? And shameless as well, since everyone seems to think God is some kind of Sugar Daddy that they can sponge off from forever! THIS, is God’s Grand Plan?
How about Philosophers who debate questions on the purpose and meaning of life here on earth but never once question that purpose and meaning of billions of people idling for eternity?
Repeatedly the question is asked – “Will we meet all our DEAD loved ones in Heaven again?”
Again, a question asked repeatedly and even as the question is asked, we ALL know what the answer is going to be.
But how about “How can I be happy in Heaven while my family is struggling? I was the breadwinner in my family, my wife is struggling to put food on the table, my family is homeless, my children are going hungry, might end up begging in the streets!” or “My country is at war, millions are suffering, mothers, wives, sisters, daughters are at risk of rape, torture!”
NOT ONCE! NOT ONE “JOURNALIST” EVER ASKS! They know that such questions are not to the religions liking and so they make sure not to ask – keep asking cheap questions that the religious person is happy to answer & the “Journalist” keeps drooling.
It is like interviewing Madoff and limiting the questions to “How much interest will I get? 18%? 20% ooh 30%? Per month! ooh”
“How quickly can I become a millionaire? Buy that fancy car? Quit my job, buy that big mansion, and live the good life? Tell me, tell me.”
If you saw something like that, would you not be disgusted?
And yet even the best of minds see such “interviews” of religious people and do not even blink!
If you hear that Putin says, “Believe in me, support, obey and submit only to me, sing only my praises and be rewarded or else!” and we know that those who have blindly supported Putin have done well for themselves and that Putin had families murdered, even children have not been spared. You hear of such horrors, and you go, “Putin is pure evil, a horrible person!”
But religion changes the name from Putin to God and repeats the EXACT same words! And here again, those that blindly support these Dictator Gods are promised paradise, a life of pleasure and those that do not fall for such cheap promises are threatened with dire consequences of eternal torture, burning chambers in Hell!
And now we get people singing praises of such Gods! Where did our intelligence, morals, ethics go?
We are no better than Pavlov’s dogs.
