This great quote from John Stuart Mill, I think perfectly describes the difference between Reincarnation and Heaven. Reincarnation stands for Socrates Dissatisfied and Heaven is the pig that is satisfied.
We live in the REAL WORLD – a world that is harsh, our lives are, as Thomas Hobbs puts it, are Nasty, brutish, and short! Nothing in life is FREE, GIVEN NOR EASY. One must fight to gain success; no one GIVES us anything here. Success in life is a matter of lots of hard work, sacrifices, taking risks and dealing with setbacks and even then, nothing is guaranteed!
Many give up – the weak, the lazy, the coward – some turn to crime – hence we have so much crime in this world – it is much, much easier to just grab something, steal, than to work hard and EARN success. Corrupt countries dot the world!
Some others look for rich Sugar Daddies to GIVE them a life of ease & comfort – you see them hanging around rich guys, movie, or music stars – laughing at their “Jokes”, mocking those who he dislikes, singing his praises. In turn the rich Sugar Daddy GIVES them a life of comfort – they eat his food; drinks are on him. He takes them to expensive restaurants, all the tasty food and drinks they consume, all on his dime. Some of them get easy “loans” , penthouses to live in! These are your sycophants, cronies, yes-men, in India, we call them Chamchas – the lowlifes! And then there are your prostitutes, gigolos – living off others, leeches.
And the top two religions exploit such people – easy cheap promises of the rich life to be had, all one has to do is believe! God is such a simpleton, isn’t he? He is just like a King of the past, Dictators of any day. Dictators like Putin demanding blind belief, support, submission to him alone, sing only his praises and be rewarded or else!
We have bosses all over the world doing the same – they reward and promote only their favored, those sycophants, those who kiss their butt. And we see them and are disgusted – we call such bosses sleazy; we look down upon people who kiss up to them and are rewarded.
We know that this is wrong – the ones who should be promoted, rewarded are those who worked hard, who have obtained the necessary qualifications. But again, these are hard things to do, they take time, effort, sacrifices, expense. It is far easier to kiss the right butt and get ahead.
And amazingly, the top two religions say that IS exactly what we have to do to gain favor with God! God does not care for our morals, values, our hard work, the people we helped, how we made this world a better place – nope, not interested! “Good works or God’s Work will not get us into Heaven!” these religious loudly proclaim!
What will? Some good old kissing the right butt, polishing the right shoes! Believe, obey, submit, sing his praises & be rewarded and see, it is sooo easy!
What is amazing and shocking is to understand that even the best of minds, the most moral drool over such cheap promises. The very same people who are disgusted by the likes of Putin, sleazy bosses now turn eager sycophants, cronies! I keep asking – Where are you Educated? Where are you the philosophers? Where are you the media?
But let us get back to the quote – this Pig Satisfaction thing. Heaven, it seems is full of joy & happiness. No one mentions any WORK being done, no one even asks! Ask any theist to describe a DAY, ONE DAY in Heaven with DETAILS and they will run away! The problem is obvious – we are talking about the almighty who created this huge universe, billions of galaxies, stars, planets, trillions of life forms – what would he need to get done? And that too need our help?
And so, we end up with billions of pigs – an idle, lazy, useless, pointless existence for eternity, shamelessly sponging off God!
Is that your choice?
Reincarnation or REAL LIFE offers you a chance to be independent, to be your own man or woman, you are not a helpless dependent, shamelessly living off others. You are not a sycophant, crony, a yes-man polishing the right shoes and being rewarded for it.
Success in the REAL WORLD as you know, depends on hard work, sacrifices, taking risks, dealing with setbacks – it takes education, knowledge, making the right decisions. There will be many days and nights where you will wonder if you will ever succeed. Yes, the dissatisfied Socrates! You are now the dissatisfied Socrates.
For here in the REAL WORLD is where you dream, you aspire, you reach for the Hand of God! Here you dream of authoring the next great novel, earning that noble prize in Science, finding a cure for cancer, getting that gold medal in the Olympics, becoming the next great movie star! That is what REAL LIFE offers – but here nothing is Given. The road will not be easy!
Whereas Heaven offers the life of a pig & in fact, Hinduism says God does not have to create an entire world just for billions of people to just sit idle and doing nothing, self-gratifying themselves. If that is all they want out of life, then they will be resurrected/reborn/reincarnated (the word does not matter) as lower life forms – Pigs, our pets – Dogs, Cats – Sheep, flies, leeches etc. Plenty of life forms to choose from – a happy dependent life with no worries!
That is the life that these people sold their intelligence, morals & God for & that is exactly what they WILL get!
Again, this world was created by God and He made rules for ALL of us to follow. Most choices in life come with pros and cons, nothing is ever entirely good or bad, unless it is something horrible like rape, killing etc. An easy, lazy life where this magic Sugar Daddy will happily take good care of us sounds wonderful, but as with such choices, it comes with a downside – the life of a lower life form. And we all know the downsides of REAL LIFE as a human being.
God is not going to make this choice for you – you have been given intelligence, a mind – you have a free choice. Sadly, of their OWN FREE WILL, their education and intelligence overcome by greed, billions of people are choosing to be Pigs!
