God is a Judge and has no Right to Forgive, only the Victim has that Right

We hear so many promises of how God will forgive us, if we just repent, but God is a Judge and in REAL LIFE no judge has that right.

Suppose you took a loan from a creditor and did not pay them back, taken to court, yes, you can cry and repent but is any judge going to say, “Ok, you feel bad about what you did, you repented, I am going to strike off that debt! You are free to go!” No way!

The best example is if one night, one has too much to drink but drives home anyway & hits a parked car. Fortunately, besides the material damage, no one was hurt. You are caught and arrested by the police. In the light of the day, the effect of alcohol has worn off and so yes, most of us will be repentant over our actions. Will the police let us go? Of course not.

Brought before the Judge, you are crying and repentant – will the Judge let you go? Of course not! First, the Judge wants to see what we are repentant about – are you crying, repentant that you made a mistake and got caught? Are those tears of self-pity? Or are you feeling horrible for causing such damage to another person’s property?

That car that was damaged could be the livelihood of a single mother who works for Uber and needs it to put food on the table. Now it is damaged, and she cannot drive it! Are you sorry for causing her sleepless nights on how she is going to feed her children?

In all this talk of “God will forgive” I have never heard anyone mention the Creditor or Victim(s)! Not once! Repentance is just the first step, not the last, but religion makes it the last!

The Judge also wants us to stand tall, take responsibility for what happened, apologize to the Victim(s), ask for THEIR forgiveness & say that you are prepared to do whatever it takes to set things right – pay back your creditors, pay for the damages to the car that you wrecked, pay for the rental of a new car or buy the victim a new one! That is what the Judge, the creditor, the victim, and all those in the court, want to hear.

THAT is true contrition, true Repentance!

And the Judge is the 3rd party here – he or she is not the one who loaned you the money. He or she is not the victim now worrying about losing their livelihood. All the Judge can do is apply the law – set terms for repaying the loan, setting things right by the victim.

ONLY THE VICTIM HAS THE RIGHT TO FORGIVE! And no one else! Only the creditor has the right to strike off the debt and no one else!

We have read about women being abused by their boyfriends. The boyfriend is arrested, taken to court, but a lot of times the women drop the charges, the boyfriend is free to go. She, as the victim, exercised her right.

One would think that any lawyer, law student, Judge, or someone with some common sense would speak up and say, “God’s Forgiveness” does not sound correct. Amazingly, through all these centuries, NONE have spoken up!

We can see the problem here, right? Paying back what we owe, is hard. Facing the victims & apologizing to them is hard. Paying for the damages that we caused is hard & so some religions are more than happy to tell us that there is an easy way out.

Just as the criminal running a Ponzi-scheme takes advantage of the greed of people, telling them what they want to hear, some religions have sold their soul to the conversion industry – they know that this easy way out appeals to a lot of people and are happy to promise it.

One of the tenets of Hinduism, the reason for Reincarnation, is that if we have unpaid debts, we must come back and repay them. If we have made mistakes that hurt others, and we have not made amends, then we must come back and correct those mistakes, do the right thing.

But this is inconvenient, hard – people do not want to hear it, people do not want to come back to this harsh life & do the right thing and so drool over easy promises of a nice, forgiving God! “God paid my debts!” – that is news to the creditor! “Just repent, nice God will forgive” – God will help the criminal cheat his creditors and victims!

I am sorry, but the REAL GOD will act just like the Judge – He wants to see you be repentant for what your actions did to your victims, how they hurt them. He wants you to say, “What can I, and the “I” here is particularly important, do, to set thing right?” It is the victim that matters, not you.

But all God is getting is a criminal full of self-pity, all about how bad he feels for what he did & now wants to be forgiven, so that he may scoot off to Heaven and start enjoying the easy good life promised him.

Nope! Sorry, not happening!

What frightens me is that through all these centuries of these cheap promises, NOT ONE Moral person has EVER spoken up! NOT ONE!

I will keep saying it – Religion is, by far, the best at brainwashing even the best of minds, most moral of minds!
