What are the 4 S’s of Life? They are Safety, Sleep, Sustenance and Sex. ALL creatures on earth, ALL life forms need these four. What is interesting is to understand that we Humans alone have gone beyond these 4. The rest of life on this earth are limited and satisfied with these 4. They seek safety in a dangerous world, catch sleep whenever they can, seek food to sustain themselves and of course, bring up their progeny.
Basically, it is Eat, Poop, Die – that is all.
But we go beyond those 4 – we dream, we aspire. What Hindus call to reach for the Hand of God! As kids our elders ask, “What do you want to be when you grow up?” And we all shout out our dreams – Astronaut, Fireman, movie star!
And as we grow up, we realize that while some of those dreams are within reach, most take a lot of sacrifices, taking risks, hard work, dealing with setbacks, the naysayers, the doubts! Most of us fail, but do we regret having those dreams, aspirations? Of course not, for what is life without dreams and hopes?
And that is the problem I have with Heaven – it seems to be a world of pleasure, paradise. Muslims talk of 72 virgins – basically orgies going on 24/7. Other religions also offer scant information except for telling us that living in Heaven will be wonderful – no one mentions any work being done, no one EVEN asks. The problem is obvious – what work would an almighty God need to get done? And that too need our help?
And we can forget dreams, hopes – but that was never the idea of Heaven anyway or those who seek Heaven. Those who seek Heaven are after a nice comfortable life and they view God as their Sugar Daddy, their ticket to such a cozy life. We see here on earth sycophants, cronies, prostitutes, gigolos cozying up to the rich and powerful like Putin, blindly supporting him, doing his bidding, singing his praises, and hoping to be KEPT in comfort by him. Their dreams, hopes are for a life of ease & comfort – an easy lazy life, plenty of good food and drink and sex – that is what they are after
Sadly, many see God the same way – their Sugar Daddy, their ticket to the good life in Heaven, in Barbie land.
Funny to think that God is running a Charity Retirement Home in the sky for billions of people to just sit idle and self-gratify themselves like we see our dogs do. And Hinduism says that IS Heaven – people chasing after self-gratification, self-pleasure uncaring about anything else or anyone, not even their OWN loved ones, end up as our Pets. They will get their Heaven but at a price.
They settled for the 4 S’s – they wanted a KEPT life of ease & comfort & so they will get it, but since human life is no longer needed for it, they end up as lower life forms.
God has made laws for us, for ALL life forms on earth and sadly, even the best of minds disregards them. Nothing in life is Free, Given nor Easy. We must fight hard for what we want, sacrifice for it, sweat, toil, blood and tears are required. Once we come of age, we MUST leave the nest, face the world on our own, learn to stand on our own two feet, EARN a living. We have it easy, we get years and years in the nest, most other life forms get just a year at best.
THIS is the life that God had Gifted us, yes, Life is a Gift from God, especially this human life. And many are rejecting it, choosing the life of sycophants, cronies, shameless dependents. But God is no Sugar Daddy waiting to keep billions of shameless freeloaders in cozy comfort for eternity! But such a life is what they want and as our pets, sheep, pigs they get their Heaven!
So, you see that we have a choice, to be human is to dream, aspire – aspire to be the next Einstein, the next Mozart, Gandhiji, Lincoln, the next great one to inspire millions! To make our Father Proud! Apparently, Good works or God’s Work, is not enough to get us into Heaven, but they are the ONLY way into God’s Heart! To make Him Proud!
So, please do not settle for the 4 S’s – do not seek a KEPT life spent in Self-gratification, self-pleasure. As they say, careful what you wish for, it will come true.
