Is the pious loved by the Gods because it is pious, or is it pious because it is loved by the Gods?

Socrates, as written by Plato in the dialogue Euthyphro, asked: “Is the pious loved by the Gods because it is pious, or is it pious because it is loved by the Gods?”. This famous “Euthyphro dilemma” explores whether goodness is independent of, or defined by, divine will.

The Dilemma: If something is good because Gods love it, morality is arbitrary. If Gods love it because it is good, then goodness exists independently of them.

To me, another way of putting it is, do you get the job or promotion based on your qualifications – education, experience, making the right decisions – or because the boss took a liking to you? When we look at it this way, everyone would be saying it is the former

We do see in countries ruled by Dictators, such as Russia, promotions, jobs, the good life is handed out to the favored. In corrupt countries, those that have the resources to grease the right palms, have the necessary connections get ahead. It is basically – pious because it is loved by the Gods or in this case the higher-ups.

We do see in certain offices, those who kiss the boss’s butt, polish the right shoes getting ahead. We mock such bosses as sleazy, their sycophants as shameless bootlickers!

Where do religions fall in this argument? Sickeningly the top two religions, Christianity & Islam, preach the latter, the corrupt way – “Good works or God’s Work will not get you into Heaven” – what will? Belief, religion, but wait, it’s not ANY belief or religion but the “right” one, theirs of course!

They have turned God’s realm into a Corrupt One – setting people apart based on belief, religion. The few, the favored will get to enjoy the fruits of Heaven, but the vast majority of humanity will find themselves in a Nazi Germany after world! Families, women, children, even babies! Will be set apart & callously dumped into burning chambers in hell!

Every day all around the world, thousands of people die & most of them are unbelievers and so holocaust fires are burning 24/7 in the afterworld of these religions.

In contrast, faiths like Hinduism, Buddhism, Judaism, Sikhism preach the former – the pious is loved by the Gods because it is pious – it is through our Works, Actions that we are dear to God! The difference in views is due to the goal – the goal of these religions is to make our Father Proud – these faiths view God as a Father, a Parent, a Teacher, and how does one make our Parents & Teachers Proud? It is by our Actions, WORKS!

But when the goal is Heaven – pleasures of the flesh – an easy lazy life of comfort, then God is reduced to a Master, a King, a Dictator, and we know how things get done in Dictator-led countries like Russia. Is Putin, before he lets anyone into his inner circle, asking “Is he a good guy? A good family man?” – of course not! What any King or Dictator values the most is whether their slaves, servants are loyal to them or not – obedience, submission, loyalty – that is what they cherish and value, for disloyal slaves, servants could cost them their crown, their power!

One could be a rapist, mass murderer but if Putin finds that person useful, such a person will be rewarded and if a good, honest person is deemed not a supporter, he or she would find themselves in torture chambers or kicked out of the country.

And that is what the afterlife that these two religions describe – only those who blindly believe, obey, submit, and sing the praises of their Dictator Gods will be allowed into Heaven, the rest of humanity left to suffer!

And did I mention that these are the top two religions of the day? Amazing that so many drop their morals, values, sell their Souls and God at the altar of religion!

I keep asking where are you educated? The philosopher? The so-called moral, ethical? Those who teach and study morals, ethics? Their silence is frightening!
